HOMOPHONES : Some words often confuse us because they sound alike even through they are spelt differently and have different meanings. Such words are called homophones.

Homophones                                                    Meanings

2.        butt                    :    a push or below, especially one given with the head.

            coarse                :    rough or harsh in texture.

5.        accept                 :    to receive.

            except                :   to exclude

6.        all ready             :   completely prepared.

            already             :   something happened before a certain time.   

7.        moral                 :   caring as out morality and wrong doing.

            morale             :   a group's mood at a given moment including                   

                                        happiness, sadness confidence, etc.  

 8.        loose                :  not tight.

            lose                  :  to fail / to win / to misplace or to free oneself from 

                                        something.  

  9.        principal        :    most important element.

            principle        :    basic generalisation that is accepted as true.

10.        site                :    an area of ground on which a town, building, or 

                                        monument is constructed.

            cite                  :   praise in an official report for a courageous act.

HOMOGRAPHS : Words with same spelling but different meanings are known as homographs or homonyms.
